when i was nine or ten there was this girl at my school. i didn't know her too well but she had a pool and alex the kidd on sega. sometimes i went to her place, we'd lie there listening to cranberries tapes. boy, she loved the cranberries. years later i still think of her if i hear that band, i think of the lazy afternoons and warm sun on the cobalt surface of the pool. when i was at uni i actually bumped into her. we sat together in the class we happened to be taking together. i'm pretty sure it was a feminist class about cyborgs (that's not a joke, i mean you can't make that stuff up.) i thought it was kind of odd she was taking such a class. she'd gone all christian and sort of weird. well, that's not true. i mean i never even knew if she was a weird christian when we were hanging out as kids. back then, things like that just didn't matter, i suppose.
