last tuesday they had a group of catholic school kids come in and entertain the elderly for a little while. before they came, the nurses wheeled out all the hospital cases (the ones whose bodies and minds kind of aren't there anymore) and left the able-bodied individuals.
i thought this screening of the realities of old age was pretty important, i mean you've got to protect the innocence of kids who turn up to volunteer, with old folks, in t-shirts that say stuff like "it's only binge drinking if you stop".
